Aztec Culture

All about the Aztec culture

The culture of the Aztecs is a unique one, with their form of religion, their customs and festivals, the food, and their advancements in technology make Aztec culture one that will be studied for centuries. Ancient Aztec culture covers a wide expansion of cultural aspects including their art, food, music, religious practices, and much more. The Aztec government and economical stations were divided into three distinct classes: the rich, powerful, and royals; the middle class merchants, traders, and some skilled craftsman, and then there were the slaves. It was near impossible to move from one cultural station to another. There were also the warriors and army class, but that was more of a separation from the middle class. Another major part of the Aztec culture involves their religion, which is largely based around human sacrifice. Being a monotheist people, they believed that human blood shed was essential to keep the gods and goddesses full and satisfied with them. It was an honor to be considered for sacrifice, as well. Another large part of Aztec culture involves the arts. The very best of the sculptors, jewelry makers, and painters often worked for the royal family to make special pieces for home décor, and also for the décor of the royal family. They worked with exotic feathers of all kinds, as well as gold, silver, and turquoise. The ancient Aztec culture is very prominent especially in the south of Mexico, where the ancient Aztec Indians once thrived.
