Aztec Empire

A short intro to the Aztec Empire

The Aztec empire was actually made up of a triple alliance. The cities of the Aztec empire were: Tenochtitlan, which was the mighty capital. The other allied cities were Tlacopan and Texcoco. These three ruled the Aztec empire. They bartered and traded among one another, and when one went to war, the other two followed right in suit. They operated much like allied countries of today. The empires worked together to build each other up to make the whole area prosperous. The Aztec empire was ruled by kings in Tenochtitlan. They would send swift runners and messengers to deliver messages to the far away lands, so they were always in communication. The Aztec empire was actually very expansive, covering land from as far north as the present day state of Hidalgo all the way to Guatemala. By looking at a map of the Aztec empire, you can see how they started in the middle and expanded out, conquering and acquiring lands as they went.

The Aztec empire thrived because of the harmonious way of life they led. The government was ruled by a king, but within the court, certain positions were given, and they were taken in a very serious and honest manner. The Aztec empire was one of the greatest, if not the greatest empires in the world. Hey gave us advancements in space travel, irrigation and crops, and many other things in use still today.
