Fiesta Del Mar
Get to the sea, and quick!
When one talks about the Fiesta del Mar in Mexico, that could mean several things. There is a huge culinary event held in Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco every year. There is also a more religious blessing of the sea in San Blas. No matter which one you are looking for/going to attend, you are guaranteed to have a great time. Mexico is a country that celebrates everything â€" there is always a party going on somewhere! They are proud of their coastline and at every chance they get, they throw a fiesta to honor it, bless it, or enjoy it! In Puerto Vallarta, the Fiesta del Mar is a huge event centered around foods from the sea. Some of the best chefs from all over the world are flown into the swankiest restaurants in Puerto Vallarta to cook in their kitchens and showcase their best dishes. This lasts from the 10th of November to the end of the month. There are also fishing tournaments, a huge boat show, attracting people from all over, and an art exhibition to rival any museum in the city. In San Blas, they do a Fiesta del Mar or Fiesta de la Virgen del Mar a little bit different. This is a more religious event, with prayer and thanksgiving to the sea itself. It is held on the west coast of Mexico from February 1st-3rd. This is a great chance for visitors to really get a feel for the regional foods and dance from that area of Mexico, and get a feel for how strongly they feel about the Virgin Mary in regards to the sea.
