Mexican Drink Recipes

What comes to mind when you think of Mexican drink recipes? Margaritas ranked #1 on a poll of American citizens, and when asked to name three other Mexican drinks, most people could only name one other: beer! That hardly counts as a prepared Mexican drink. We will highlight the most popular drinks from south of the border, giving you a little knowledge that the average Joe doesn’t have. Impress your friends and family by whipping up some Mexican drinks using our recipes!

Not all Mexican drinks are alcoholic, but we’ll cover those first because they get a party started. Do you like bloody marys? Well, try a Michelada (meech eh lah dah) it’s basically a bloody Mary, just made with beer! You can skip the celery and everything; just serve it with clamato, hot sauce and worsteshire sauce over ice in a salt rimmed glass. There is also the famous paloma, the dove. It is tequila and squirt! The easiest non alcoholic drinks to make are called “aguas frescas” they are fresh waters made with water, whole fruit, and sugar. My favorite is agua de sandia – watermelon water. You basically just blend up chunks of watermelon with a lot of sugar, add water, and voila! It’s ready to enjoy. Just be sure to chill it before you serve it. Pineapple water is just as good. Make sure to always use fresh fruit – canned just won’t do!
