Best Margarita Recipe
Do you have a great margarita recipe? Do you know what it takes to make a great margarita? If you said Jose Cuervo margarita mix, you’re wrong. Sorry. The best margaritas are made from fresh squeezed juices. Not even from concentrate! I have the best margarita recipe for you, and I will share it with you right here in Mex Adventure. After living in Mexico almost five years, I can tell you, I’ve had the good, the bad, and the ugly of margaritas.
The best margarita recipe I have come across comes from a pool bar in Puerto Peñasco, Sonora, Mexico called S.W.I.M at the Bella Sirena resort. It is hands down the best margarita ever. They start with 4 ounces of fresh squeezed lemon and orange juice and add a little lime to it. People sometimes overdo the lime, and it’s just too harsh. They use an ounce and a half of Jimador tequila, which is more smooth and sweet than bitter and harsh. It’s aged in oak barrels throughout its process, so it retains an almost buttery taste and texture. It balances beautifully with the citrus fruits. They then put in an ounce of Cointreau, which is an orange flavored liquer from France. When you shake this on ice, then pour it over ice in a sugared/salted rimmed glass (they use a mix of both, which I think is genius) and take that first sip, you will never want to drink another margarita from anywhere else on earth!
