Here is a list of some questions and answers which serve as a guide. Please defer to Mexican authorities to make sure that there is nothing else required of you as requirements may vary from state to state.

What do you need to have with you in order to have an official legally recognized Mexico wedding?
• Marriage application forms, these can be obtained at the local registry office in Mexico where you plan to get married.
• You will need to have certified copies of your birth certificates present. This will have to be presented for both parties in the wedding.
• Both parties in the wedding will also need their Passports and either tourist cards or visas.
• You will have to have two witnesses for both the bride and the groom totaling at least four witnesses.
• Blood tests are required and they must be administered in Mexico and cannot be taken more than 15 days before the wedding date. You will be required to present the written results.
• If you are recently divorced you will need to wait at least one year before you can remarry. You must bring the original copy of the divorce decree with you as well.
• If you have been widowed, you will need to present a death certificate of the deceased spouse.
• After you have gathered all your documentation, pay your marriage license fees that amount to be approximately $30-35 USD, paid in pesos of course. Cost may differ based on each Mexican state.

Will my marriage in Mexico be recognized as a valid marriage in the USA?
The general answer is yes, speak with the local Mexico registry department where your ceremony took place. You will need to have your marriage certificate legalized in Mexico. The local Mexico registry can advise you on the steps necessary to legalize your wedding certificate.

It is important to contact local Mexican authorities where you plan to get married to confirm that you have all the required documentation, and that you have followed all the necessary steps to have a marriage in Mexico.
