Rocky Point Bike Rally
Every year thousands flock to Rocky Point for the annual Harley Davidson Rocky Point Bike Rally. It is three days of fun and action. All the proceeds are donated to Mexico’s charities. Most of festivities take place right in the heart of downtown Puerto Penasco. The first event is the Poker run. It starts in Why, Arizona and ends in Rocky Point. There are contests, a golf tournament, and food and drink galore. Add dice games and exhibits to the mix and you have a day of fun for all.
The Rolling the Dice Resort Ride is a tour of all the resorts, and fun locations in Rocky Point. It starts at Chango’s Bar and Grill and ends at the Mayan palace, a 60 mile ride. The rally ends with a Parade that was changed a bit in 2009 to include riding near the event’s charities. Every year 100% of the biker’s fees are donated to charity. From 2001 to 2009 over $124,000 has been raised for charity.
The following charities have been involved since the Rally’s 2001 beginning:
● The Red Cross
● Rocky Point Fire Department
● The Elderly Home in Rocky Point
● La Montana Special Needs School
● DIF (Dasrrollo Integral de la Familia) in Rocky Point and Sonoyta
● The George Papanicolau Cancer Association
The annual Rocky Point Bike Rally is held every November. Should you wish to participate in The Rocky Point motorbike event, visit the tent that is set up at the entrance of Rocky Point, and register. Book soon, because this event really gets crowded, and hotel rooms go fast. If you are partaking in the rally, be sure you acquire the proper Mexican bike insurance before you travel to Rocky Point.
The Rocky Point Bike Rally was started in 2001, and has been a huge success since. The Discovery Channel was even there to cover the rally in 2009. Its popularity has certainly increased over the years.
Common sense should prevail if you plan on attending The Rocky Point motorbike rally. While Rocky Point has been free of the drug related violence that is filling the news, stay away from areas of drug use, and prostitution, and only frequent legitimate shops and tourist attractions.
Indeed, although it is fun to be part of the Rocky Point Bike rally; it is also a good feeling to have your feet firmly planted on American soil. When you travel back to the United States, a new law is in effect. You will be required to show a valid passport to gain re-entry. Only 4 miles north of the border is the Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument. Many bikers say this is the perfect place to stop and relax a bit, and reflect on the weekend’s fun.
In other words, the Rocky Point Bike Rally is not only enjoyable, but serves the participating charities too. Not to mention all the friends you have met there. Fans of this event are special people, and they all have an unbreakable bond. Of course, most will return year after year.
