Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo

General Information | Sport Fishing

Carnival Unique 6 Day Baja Cruise from $379!

Los Cabos refers to the two glistening resorts, Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo, at the southern tip of the Baja Peninsula.   Both of these destinations have come into their own as premier vacation spots in the last twenty years thanks primarily to improved roads and air access.  Visitors will find that this area has a distinctly American feel because of its proximity to California and relative isolation from mainland Mexico.  American dollars are the currency of choice, and American products are on nearly all store shelves.

The two resorts are separated by a 29 km stretch of hotels and beaches known as the Corridor,  making this one of Mexico's most sprawling  resorts.  Known for its world-class fishing, surfing and diving, the area is now drawing families and eco-tourists as well.  Golfers have also discovered Los Cabos as it is fast becoming one of Latin America's top golf destinations.  Green fees can be pricey but the ocean views and challenging courses designed by Jack Nicklaus and others make them worth every penny.

Divers have come to recognize Cabo as one of the leading diving destinations in the world.  Summer water temperatures can reach 80 degrees, and water visibility can reach 120 feet.  A wonderful variety of fish and mammals, caves and sand falls make diving here a real treat.

For surfers, Cabo offers some great spots.  Try Acapulquito Beach and Playa Costa Azul outside of San Jose and Playa Cabo Bella and Playa Barco Varado along the Corridor.

And not to be missed while in Cabo is one of nature's truly extraordinary events.  11,000 of the world's approximately 21,000 grey whales migrate from the Arctic to just north of Cabo to bear their young each January through March.  The whales can be seen from the shore or half day boat excursions are available.
